Gene TRPV4
PDB ID 3W9F
Protein Name
Crystal structure of the ankilin repeat domain of chicken TRPV4 in complex with IP3
Organism
Gallus gallus
Receptor Name Transient receptor potential cation channel subfamily V member 4
UniProt ID A0A1D5PXA5
Function
Non-selective calcium permeant cation channel involved in osmotic sensitivity and mechanosensitivity (PubMed:11081638). Activation by exposure to hypotonicity within the physiological range exhibits an outward rectification (PubMed:11081638). Also activated by phorbol esters (PubMed:19864432). Channel activity seems to be regulated by a calmodulin-dependent mechanism (By similarity).
Activity regulation
ATP binding enhances channel sensitivity to agonists. Ca2+-calmodulin prevents the ATP-mediated increased sensitivity to agonists.
