Nonanal, also called nonanaldehyde, pelargonaldehyde or Aldehyde C-9, is an alkyl aldehyde. A colourless, oily liquid, nonanal is a component of perfumes.
Nonanal is present in large quantities in many species such as canola, soybean, Senecio laetus, Haplophyllum tuberculatum, Minuartia meyeri and Apium
graveolens. It has been identified odorants in toys, polypropylene powder, thermal oxidation product of polyethylene, scallops, etc.
